School Security Monitoring Ramped up as CCTV Surveillance Installed

As a very ambitious and security conscious boarding school in the heart of Benue state, one of our basic concern is to have a water tight- security system that guarantees security and safety of our students, staff and the visiting parents. To consummate this desire,we have of recent installed CCTV cameras at strategic angles to provide an all-round coverage of the entire school on time, real time. This is in addition to the engagement of guardsmen from an independent security outfit. ...

The beauty of this CCTV surveillance system is that, it does not only cover the school premises but also the classrooms, the lobby and the car park. With this coverage, everything comes directly under our purview to address very promptly. We can monitor teacher/learner behavior in the classrooms without necessarily going upstairs. And now that students have known that we can see them in their study rooms, concentration has increased.

In the area of zero tolerance to bullying, the CCTV surveillance system is of immense benefit to us as there is no hiding place for anyone with bully mentality. This audacious project is coming at the heels of our school computerization project which was completed late last year. These and many other projects are lined up to put us in the better position to introduce the British curriculum into our academic calendar this year. These are also the basic facilities required to take us to the next level toward achieving our vision as a school. As we have pitched our tent here we shall not leave any stone unturned to make our mark on the educational canvass of the state, by the grace of God Almighty.

Total School Electrification Project Ongoing

In a matter of days, there will no longer be any hiding place for darkness within the school vicinity at night as Becky Igyuse College embarks on total School electrification project during this long holiday. ...

Shiny electric poles were seen lying in the school premises, ready to be wired up while concrete stands have been casted in readiness for the mounting of the poles.

According to the Propietor, Mummy Becky Igyuse, this project is meant to enhance security in the night by increasing night vision for security personnel.

Moreover, the lighting of the sport arena all through the night will encourage extra training and exercises especially during sports competitions. With this, learners can practice without fear of the unknown as the security personnel can see far in the evening to give them cover when need arises.

This project is one of its kind in the state and will definitely add value to the Becky Igyuse College.

First Phase of Computerization Completed

We have completed the first phase of our computerization project by equipping our computer studio with 12 new sets of computers ( Thin Client style). ...

This has been made possible through an engagement with a Computer contracting firm owned by one of our learners’ parents. While this project was meant to be paid for installmentary, the school has opted for a one-off payment to enable us quickly move into the next phase, which is the installation of the CCTV systems. Since security has become a front burner in our society today, we do not want to be lagging behind. Our students are our inestimable assets, too valuable to be toyed with in terms of security. Moreover, as we continue to expand our facilities, there is a great need to secure them. And we are leaving no stone unturned.

Basketball Court Gets Facelift

In order to make learners experience real basketball, the school’s basketball court has been resurfaced. ...

The resurfacing of the old basketball court has been carried out as part of the projects embarked upon by the school during the summer holiday for capacity building.

It is expected that when learners resume in September they will have a different level of experience in the game of basketball. In a similar way, two new table tennis tables have been acquired by the school to introduce students to the game of table tennis. As the saying goes, all work without play makes jack a dull boy. At Becky Igyuse College, there is no room for dullness.
